Zarazua Family/Sr. Pictures | 12.27.07

This December was my month for family photos! I usually do weddings, but I also love the chance to spend time with a whole family and catch them as they interact. I've known this family for a few years now since I went to college with Dina (the one with the biggest smile). They live in San Antonio, so going to the beach and having pictures there was something the high school senior wanted. And it made me appreciate that I am always just half an hour from the ocean.

Justin & Renee | December 18, 2007

What is a wedding day supposed to feel like? I think that was the question they were asking each other as the bride and groom were catching their breath on the steps of the Hotel Del. Family were gathering on the beach. We were taking pictures. It was the end of an otherwise normal day, but this day would be no ordinary day. It was their wedding day. Congratulations, Justin & Renee. It was my honor to be there on this important day!

Justin & Melissa | December 15, 2007

They waited a very, very long time for this day. After exactly six years of dating, Justin & Melissa said their vows before God and their huge collection of friends and family. The ceremony was sacred; the reception was a huge party. Exactly as it should be. Something about the combination of Justin and Melissa and the way they create community around them made the wedding a true celebration. Beautiful. I was blessed to have a part.

David & Elizabeth | Julian, CA

Snow, hail, rain, howling winds: if you're wanting weather, apparently all you need to do is drive to Julian! We thought it was going to be a nice sunny day (we live in San Diego!), but instead we got all of the above. I have never taken pictures in weather like this before!

But we wanted adventure and engagement pictures, and we got both. David & Beth were awesome and even took off their coats in the bitter cold. You may not believe it from the photos but if you look closely you can see the snow. I now know for sure that my camera is weather-proof and that happy people will smile even in miserable cold!
